Secure Your Family’s Future with Legal Expertise
Good afternoon, everybody. This is Dustin Peterson, and I am the Oklahoma City Attorney. I’ve decided that several times a month, I will compile a list of the most common questions that I hear from my clients and elsewhere, and bring those to you here so that you can use that information to make better decisions in your situation.
Today’s question, I’ve just been served divorce papers. Do I need an attorney? Well, you’re not required to hire an attorney. Everyone is deemed capable to handle their own legal business, should they choose to do so. But that doesn’t mean necessarily that you’ll be effective in doing it.
The laws these days can be quite complicated. And attorneys are in a unique position to spend their time keeping up to date on the current state of the laws. And so it can help you greatly to protect your rights, the rights of your family, the rights of your children, the rights of your property, if you would at least consult an attorney. And I encourage you to do that.
In most cases, those are low-cost consultations. Sometimes they’re not. You’ll just have to check. Mine are low-cost . And you’re welcome to give me a call. And should you find yourself in need of a divorce lawyer in Oklahoma and want to hire one, give me a call at (405) 888-5400/(405) 880-8222 or look me up at theoklahomacityattorney.com or at oklahomacitydivorceattorney.pro
