No Waiting Game Here
Video Transcribed: Good afternoon everybody. This is Oklahoma City lawyer Dustin Peterson. Several times a month I’ll be bringing you answers to the most commonly heard questions and concerns in my consultations. And I hope you can use this information to make better decisions in your own situation.
Today’s question is an easy one. Let’s take a look. My divorce in another state was finalized a month ago, but I would like to get remarried in Oklahoma. How long must I wait? Well, in Oklahoma of course, you must wait six months between the finalization of your Oklahoma divorce decree and your remarriage in Oklahoma. However, in this case, I’m happy to inform this person that they don’t have to wait very long at all. So because her divorce decree was finalized in another state, Oklahoma does not care. You can get married here whenever you wish.
